Deputy Chief Auditor

St Helena Government offers an extraordinary opportunity for a senior audit manager to join Audit St Helena and support the Chief Auditor in delivering the statutory external audit function.  This demanding but rewarding role will allow you to apply your professional expertise in external audit and make a major contribution to public accountability at a key time in the economic development of the Island.

Although better placed to develop economically and socially as a result of opening our international airport in 2017, we are not at the stage of self-sufficiency and therefore remain dependent on UK government aid.

Reporting to the Chief Auditor you will assist in managing the operations of Audit St Helena with prime responsibility for managing the planning and delivery of financial and performance audits in accordance with international standards across a diverse portfolio of public sector bodies.  You will also lead the management of audit methodologies, systems and quality control.

As a qualified accountant you will have proven experience in managing ISA compliant external audits ideally in a public sector environment and leading assurance or consulting assignments to improve value for money.  With strong practice management skills you will be able to develop audit team members in planning and delivering audit engagements to time and quality standards.  You will also know how to engage with your clients to maintain effective communication and provide technical leadership adding value to the statutory audit process.

Our Benefits Package Includes:

  • Salary: £47k pa, depending on experience and qualifications
