In line with the requirements of the Police Service Ordinance 1985, the post holder must be under the age of 60 on the date of appointment.

Enjoying unique lifestyle opportunities, St Helena Island is a self-governing overseas territory of the United Kingdom. Although better placed to develop economically and socially as a result of opening our international airport in 2017, we are not at the stage of self-sufficiency and therefore remain dependent on UK government aid. The Royal St Helena Police comprises of a Chief of Police, a DCI, three Inspectors, five Sergeants including one DS and 19 Constables including three DCs.

Managing budgets and resources, you will develop and implement short, medium and long-term objectives within each investigation as part of the overall investigative strategy and engage with other force departments, units and agencies to enable a collaborative approach. You must supervise and evaluate investigations for reactivity, proactivity and crimes in action to ensure accordance with best practice.

You will support the briefing of and liaison with the media when necessary and represent the Police Service at the Adult and Children’s Safeguarding Board, MAPPA and other related meetings and forums. While this role will be based on St. Helena, there may be short secondments to Ascension Island.

An Investigative Manager (PIP 2 or equivalent) qualified to Inspector level, you have completed the MSCIDP or equivalent. Having experience of working within a Command Team environment as an Inspector you have a broad policing and operational command background, including incident command and management.

You have frequently conducted serious and complex investigations and successfully engaged with and influenced multi-agency partnerships. You will have made challenging decisions using appropriate decision making models and have applied Child and Adult Safeguarding procedures, working with Children and Adult Safeguarding Boards. Your offender management experience includes MAPPA, MARAC and public protection. Flexibility will be essential, as some evening and weekend work may be required. You must be under the age of 60.
