Leading four veterinary staff covering domestic animals, livestock and poultry service provision, you will undertake regulatory aspects of animal imports and exports and veterinary biosecurity, advising government, private sector and public on animal health, disease and welfare. You will oversee clinical practices and run the small animal surgery, managing the procurement, issuing and stock control of veterinary medicines.

Other responsibilities include the surveillance and monitoring of the disease status of the Island’s livestock and domestic animals and the implementation and monitoring of the Environmental Natural Resources and Planning Portfolio’s (ENRP) Animal and Apiculture Import and Export Health Standards (protocols). This includes boarding vessels and attending the airport when animals are arriving and leaving the Island, and overseeing the ENRP quarantine facilities. You will represent ENRP as a member of the Island’s Health Protection Board and monitor the world animal disease situation.

Professionally qualified with a degree in veterinary medicine and surgery, you have commensurate post-graduate experience. Knowledge of livestock production systems will be essential to maximise opportunities to improve meat production on St Helena, with experience of AI application procedures for livestock, or a willingness to undertake such training.

Able to mentor and delegate, you are computer literate with strong communication, negotiation and diplomacy skills. An understanding of agricultural and animal legislation is required plus the ability to communicate with laymen, para-professionals, pet owners, Government officials, politicians and the media.

Your input will be guided by the development of a new strategic framework for integrated social services. You will manage a complex caseload – usually between 10 and 20 – with a focus on child protection and safeguarding court work. You must take appropriate action to protect vulnerable people with an emphasis on anti-oppressive practice as you devise, monitor and review individual care plans that promote dignity and empowerment and comply with legal and statutory requirements.

You will asses children in need to a high standard and within timescales, undertaking risk assessments to inform care planning and assessments of vulnerable adults. You should ensure reports and statements for Court, case conferences and looked-after reviews are prepared to a high standard, in time for deadlines and demonstrate involvement of clients.

As you chair multi-agency and planning meetings and implement the Family Group Conferencing process, you will lead practice improvements and quality of assessments and care planning, by mentoring, leading workshops, updating the team on practice developments and research findings, as well as the induction of new staff.

A UK Qualified Social Worker with a BA Honours degree or DipSW, you must have a current registration with SWE, SCW, SSSC or NISCC. Up to date knowledge and recent practical experience as a social worker with case load responsibility in safeguarding vulnerable groups will be essential. A minimum of post AYSE will be expected, with special focus on safeguarding children and adults and with significant experience in the field of social work (childrens). You must have a background in providing accredited training to Social Services/welfare staff and other agencies in key aspects of social work/care and in analysing and interpreting information to develop solutions or solve problems.

A track record within safeguarding children’s frameworks and of working with complex situations and competing priorities will be expected, as well as teaching in a children’s services setting. You will have knowledge and understanding of working with children with complex and learning needs and of Child Protection. An enhanced disclosure will be sought and you will need a full UK Driving Licence.

There are four schools on the island; one secondary and three primaries. The curriculum broadly models the English education system.

Adhering to COBIS standard 7, you will teach secondary level English using formative assessment tools such as target setting and quality feedback. You must collaboratively develop appropriate syllabi, schemes of work and materials using positive behaviour management strategies.

You should understand and integrate COBIS standards 2 (Student Welfare) and 5 (Ethos and Values) into teaching practice and daily classroom routines. Proactively participating in school events, parents’ evenings and the PTA etc., you must attend relevant CPD courses and all Staff Development Days.

Holding UK Qualified Teacher Status (B Ed, PGCE or IPGCE) or equivalent qualification, you have recent and relevant experience of teaching in a secondary school and in teaching the UK Curriculum.

You will need good IT skills and be competent in using ICT systems and programmes, plus organisational and methodical skills with the ability to plan and manage your workload. Calm under pressure, you have a caring and polite manner with the ability to show patience, tolerance and understanding. With a passion for teaching, and with high expectations of your students, you apply objective judgement, showing the ability to motivate and inspire.

It will be your role to lead, co-ordinate and develop Mathematics at St Helena’s Secondary School while you monitor and assess student performance and develop the tracking systems currently in place. You will plan, prepare and deliver appropriate schemes of work including key stage 3, 4 and 5 where applicable, providing high quality CPD for colleagues in Mathematics.

Managing resources and equipment you will assist primary school staff with curriculum development and offer training in the teaching of Mathematics across the primary schools. You will also contribute to the teaching of Mathematics in Adult Education.

Holding a UK teaching qualification and QTS you are qualified to degree level in Mathematics, with substantial experience of teaching Mathematics at keystages 3, 4 and 5.

You have some overseas experience, preferably in a developing economy. With a history of  CPD for yourself and other staff, you have a specific background in numeracy improvement at any level plus knowledge of a range of GCSE and A level courses available for Maths and of the Secondary Curriculum within the UK relevant to Maths.

The Royal St Helena Police comprises of a Chief of Police, a DCI, three Inspectors, five Sergeants including one DS and 19 Constables including three DCs. Working alongside the operational uniform policing teams, you will establish a trust-based relationship with learners, collaborating to identify their individual needs and developing mutually agreed expectations of roles and responsibilities.

You will tutor learners through specific and risk-managed work-based scenarios, assessing their progress against learning outcomes and/or assessment criteria. As you maintain professional knowledge of relevant curricula and criteria you will plan, prepare and facilitate learning opportunities and provide review sessions with learners. You will help them to build evidence of their progress and competence, and develop action plans for their professional development.

Your broad police experience includes coaching, mentoring and tutoring with neighbourhood (community) policing, response policing, custody, crime investigation and working in partnership with external stakeholders. You understand current policing challenges, efficiency and diversity issues. Having a structured approach to the tutoring process, you apply an understanding of human behaviour to the identification of barriers to performance and learning, and to identifying appropriate development actions.
